About Me

My name is Sandy Hollstegge.  I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Inspired by my mom (who always wanted to be a teacher but never had the chance) and my incredible ninth grade English teacher, Mrs. Razor,  I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelors of Arts degree.  Later I earned a Masters degree in education from Marygrove College.  I have been teaching for sixteen years, fourteen of those at Whitewater Valley Elementary.  I have taught fourth grade for the past thirteen years.  In my opinion, I have the best job in the world!   Fourth grade is lots of fun.

I am very involved with lots of activities at WVE.  I am the AR Coordinator and a Drama Club director. I was the Technology Coordinator for the building until this year, which means I was responsible for all of the computers, printers, and tech. equipment in the building. I'm known as a computer geek, but I take that as a compliment!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, watching movies, working with computers, working on my website, planting in my flower gardens, and spending time with my family and friends.  I also enjoy making crafts, tackling home improvement projects, and being creative in any way.

In 2009, I was honored to receive the Hamilton County Excellence in Education Award, which recognized one outstanding teacher in each school district. I have also been named PTA Educator of the Year and WVE Educator of the Year (twice).  I was nominated for the Disney Teacher of the Year award as well.
